In this painting, as protagonists, I wanted to use a cat and a mouse to convey a message, which is exactly the opposite of what one would usually expect with this famous combination!
The cat is a large predator by definition: it is strong, fast, agile and in the fight with its archenemy, it has always had the upper hand.
The pieces on the chessboard show us that the cat is on its last move, on the opposite side the mouse patiently awaits its victory, which derives solely and exclusively from its experience, its maturity and its knowledge.
